April Unemployment Report Reflects COVID-19 Impact June 1, 2020 Report The Indiana Department of Workforce Development in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, has released the April 2020 Unemployment Report. The reporting period covers the beginning of the Governor's Executive Orders relating to the fight against COVID-19. The unemployment rate listed for Huntington County is 20% compared with 3.3% prior to the government orders. "The statistics will continue to be very high for a couple of reporting periods, however, it should begin to gradually improve in June," said Mark Wickersham, executive director. "I believe most of the circumstances are temporary and expect our economy to begin the recovery process in June, especially as automakers come back on line," he added.
