June 28, 2017 was a special day for the City of Huntington as the ribbon was cut for the new trails hub at Schenkel Station in downtown Huntington.
The historic, 1928 building originally was built as the passenger station for the Wabash Central Railroad. The facility was made possible by the John & Shelley and Alvin & Clara Schenkel Families of Huntington. The City of Huntington is not only committed to adding amenities which improve the quality of life for residents, but also is participating in the Northeast Regional Partnership's Road to One Million project and the new trail hub integrates nicely into the Regional planning for trail connector corridors.
