December Unemployment Rate Drops January 27, 2020 Report The Indiana Department of Workforce Development in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has released the Unemployment Report for December 2019. The unemployment rate for Huntington County residents closed the year at 2.9% according to the data. The unemployment picture steadily improved throughout 2019 having started last year at 4.4% and ending at 2.9%. According to job posting site Indeed.com there were 204 jobs immediately available within a 10 mile drive from downtown Huntington. Click here to read their report. "2019 was a very strong year among our industrial clients as the agency facilitated 19 new projects reflecting a private capital investment of $59.6 million," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of Huntington County Economic Development Corporation. "It's no surprise to see the unemployment rate improve throughout the year," he added. "Our Community is very fortunate to have such a strong industrial base," he concluded.
