December Unemployment Unchanged

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released the December 2018 Unemployment Report.  The rate for Huntington County was listed as 3.8%, unchanged from November and lower than the National Rate of 3.9%.

 

"Huntington County employers continue to have job openings available," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.  "According to the job recruitment website Indeed.com, over 200 jobs are immediately available within ten miles of downtown Huntington," he said. 

 

Seasonal adjustments to the labor force during the holiday shopping season create a short term impact on the overall work force statistics, however, there was a slight drop in the number of people unemployed.  Generally, the situation is consistent with the situation one year ago.
