Expansion of Huntington Municipal Airport Nears Completion
October 6, 2017
Members of the Board of Aviation Commissioners were recently joined by Mayor Brooks Fetters and other leaders to break ground for phase two of the $1.6 million aviation ramp expansion at
Huntington Municipal Airport.
E & B Paving Company is doing the construction project.
Funding for the project was primarily provided by the United States Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA granted 90% of the project cost, with the Indiana Department of Transportation providing an additional 5% with the Huntington Municipal Airport Board of Aviation Commissioners (BOAC) providing 5% of the funding as well.
Huntington Municipal Airport is owned by the City of Huntington and was established in the late 1940s. Nearly 85 aircraft call the facility home and the airport serves as a genuine asset to the economic development prospects of Huntington.
