Requests for tax abatement should be good news for communities, says Mark Wickersham, executive director, Huntington County Economic Development. Some area communities, however, have recently debated their programs. If administered properly, tax abatement is an excellent tool for economic development. The Indiana General Assembly created the process in Indiana in 1977.
