Huntington County EDC Earns National Recognition March 2, 2023 Report Site Selection Magazine has announced their Top 100 U.S. Metropolitan and Top 100 U.S. Micropolitan economic development Communities from 2022 in their upcoming March 2023 Magazine Issue. Since 1988, the publication annually announces their awards as part of their "Governor's Cup Awards" recognition. Huntington tied for 28th nationally (having moved up 11 places in the ranking from 2021) among the Top 100 Micropolitan Markets (cities with populations between 10,000 and 50,000 with economic development projects involving at least $1,000,000 and the addition of at least 20,000 square feet of new floor area and creating 20 new jobs). Huntington most recently earned the award recognition from Site Selection in 2021 and has now tallied 7 awards overall since 2010. "It's exciting to be considered among the best," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation. "There are just over 2,000 communities of our size in the U.S. according to census statistics. It's a very competitive list which includes 12 Indiana communities, 5 of which are in Northeast Indiana.
