Incentives approved for Huntington Aluminum

 

The Huntington County Commissioners, Huntington County Council and City of Huntington have agreed to offer a grant of CEDIT funds (County Economic Development Income Tax) to support a proposed expansion at the Huntington Aluminum facility in Riverfork Industrial Park.

 

The company is considering an investment of approximately $3.2 million, creating 41 new jobs with the proposed construction of a 43,000 square-foot building for manufacturing and warehousing opportunities. Huntington Aluminum recycles aluminum scrap as a tolling facility by melting the metal and molding it into ingots and sows. 

 

The company currently employs 40 people. The grant funds are being offered in lieu of tax abatement.

 

Roger Kilty, a resident of Huntington, is the company's majority owner and president.  

 

"We benefit from a very interesting situation," said Mark Wickersham, executive director, Huntington County Economic Development. "We are one of the few places in Indiana where the name of the county is the same as the city. It's only logical that both governmental units would want to assist a private business that also shares the name 'Huntington.'
