Industrial Property Annexed November 14, 2019 Report The Common Council for the City of Huntington voted unanimously to annex 181 acres to become the Riverfork Industrial Park West. The move brings the site one step closer to achieving PRIME Certification from the Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs. The PRIME designation is awarded by the State of Indiana to recognize development sites as having achieved the highest level of preparation to easily facilitate development. The Huntington County Economic Development Corporation acquired direct ownership of 127 acres of the site also with the unanimous support of the City of Huntington. "This Council's annexation vote is yet another strong demonstration of support for long-term, strategic growth opportunities for the City of Huntington," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of Huntington County Economic Development Corporation. "This site has been a dream for our Community for decades. This opportunity simply would not have happened without the direct leadership support of everyone within the economic development team," he continued. "It is, however, very important to maintain a perspective, this is a long-term project. It required nearly forty years for the existing industrial park space to mature. Riverfork West will also take time but we're off to an exciting start. Mayor Fetters, City Council, the City's Redevelopment Commission and team have just been awesome. This type of collaboration is very encouraging to companies who might be evaluating our Community for investments," he concluded. Click here to read coverage from the Huntington Herald-Press.
