March Unemployment Stable
April 24, 2019
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, has released the March Unemployment Report. The rate for Huntington County was reported at 4.1%, compared to 4.2% the previous month.
"The unemployment data for Huntington County, while slightly higher than neighboring Counties, is moving in the right direction," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation. "There are more people in the overall workforce, more people employed, and fewer people unemployed than the previous report," he added.
The report covers the period from February 11 to March 10, 2019 and is a reflection of County of residence, not County of employment.
The job posting site,
Indeed.com, currently reports 229 job openings of all types within 10 miles of downtown Huntington. Regionally the number of job openings is significantly higher with 2,944 jobs open within 25 miles of downtown Huntington according to the site.
