September Unemployment Rate Drops

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has released the September 2019 monthly Unemployment Report. According to the data, the Unemployment Rate for Huntington County residents is 2.5%, down from 3% in August and down from 4.4% in January.

 

"Year to date, 2019 has been a record setting year for our clients," said Mark Wickersham, executive director for the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation. "Sixteen clients have invested a combined $59 million this year. The local jobs market continues to reflect the strength of those employers and their investments," he said.

 

According to job posting site, Indeed.com, 219 job openings are available within a ten mile drive of Huntington at the time of this publication.

 

"While we seem to live in a news culture which enjoys negatives, this is a good report," Wickersham concluded.
